5-Tier Storage Rack, MDF Shelves on a Steel Frame

A wire rack is fine until you put a box of screws on it. This one has solid boards — CARB P2 MDF, one panel per tier — so a bag of soil, a stack of loose photographs or a tray of small parts sits flat and stays where you left it. The frame is powder-coated steel with smooth edges, and there is a centre support beam running under every tier rather than just a rim around the outside. That beam is why the supplier rates each shelf for up to 386 lb with the load spread evenly. Sixteen plastic feet with rubber pads sit under the uprights, which keeps the posts off a finished floor. The same parts build two things. Stacked, it is a five-tier tower against a wall. Split, it becomes a lower horizontal workbench — useful if the ceiling is low, or if you would rather have work surface than height. Assembly is boltless and a pair of gloves is included; the maker recommends a rubber mallet, and that is not in the box. Six colors and four sizes, from a narrow 27.4 in that fits a closet to a 35.5 by 17.5 in that takes storage totes without overhang. Pick the depth by what you actually store: 11.6 in for pantry goods and paperwork, 16 or 17.5 in for bins, crates and boxed appliances. One thing to know before you order: the shelves are wood board, not steel. The frame is metal, the decks are not. On a covered porch or in a damp basement that is the wrong material — keep this one indoors and dry.
